Youth Programs and Services

F.U.T.U.R.E. offers many programs that assist and contribute to the development of youth participants. In our expanded programs section, a comprehensive breakdown on specific skills our programs seek to develop in our youth can be found. (Below is a brief description of some of the many activities we offer at F.U.T.U.R.E.):

Academic Enrichment: A major goal of our program is to improve academic performance. We strive to improve the participants school attendance, improve and maintain grades, and to decrease the participants chances of a premature exit from high school prior to graduation.

Life Skills: These activities help to provide personal accountability. It includes mentoring, leadership, and job readiness. This component also includes volunteering and community service.

Cultural Enrichment and Recreation: This program will develop our youth in three ways: 1) to appreciate the creative arts; 2) to provide physical exercise; and 3) to teach the art of competitive spirit through individual and team sports.

Other programs:

Dollars for Scholars: This scholarship program is offered in conjunction with Nicor Gas.

Kwanzaa: This annual event is a seven day observance of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. The principles are explained and examples given on how the youth and their families can incorporate the principle into their daily life.

Art Trek: This event, held in cooperation with the Chicago Southland Visual Arts Coalition, is held annually in October. Each year the event features youth artists from throughout the community.

Toys for Tots: F.U.T.U.R.E. participates with the USMC Reserves to help provide toys during the holidays for all participants in our programs.
